A brief introduction to this proposal

One of the main objectives of our PubliPro unit, headed by Adriana Jansen HoU, is to support and create products for internal European Parliament communication.

For this purpose it would be very valuable to have an user-friendly platform fully connected to the users' accounts of the institution where microsites could be easily created, thanks to that service we could support or replace the production of some of the printed brochures/products requested by our clients; by being published by groups/units/users and with the integrated option to publish externally to the intranet where allowed/required. This would be the ideal scenario for some of our clients/products reflected in the example used for this pilot Women in the European Parliament.

Power Pages (+ Power BI if necessary) as part of Microsoft Power APPs meets all these requirements. And I presume/hope ;) that some of the EP security protocols could be streamlined as these could already be addressed with other active services linked to Microsoft 365 (SharedPoint, Teams...).

Devel background

On the 22nd of May Ulrich KRONER and Eric KARAMAGA gave me access to a EP Microsoft Power Apps Test environment (uc4ep.onmicrosoft.com).

Since then in my spare time I have been working on this pilot website created with the combination of Power Pages + Power BI for the data visualisations,
using as content example Women in the European Parliament 2024.

Power Page Demo site URL: https://wep.powerappsportals.com/
on Political and Administrative pages the charts come from a Report created on Power BI and adapted to this microsite charts needs.

As alternative to be consider I also created on the page JScharts full responsive with chart.js code other solution to display the data visualizations. These charts don't have the PB functionalities.

Good morning Ulrich, I attended the last O365 CAB meeting and I don't recall that this decision was taken there. However, if you believe that it is useful for the request to go thru the SSP, it can be done. I would just like to understand what it is that you expect of the SSP: I believe that Power Pages are part of the MS licence the EP already have. Can you please let me know if my assumption is correct? If so, does it mean that the data protection assessment & cyber security check, which would typically be part of the SSP, were already done? I remember Rafael mentioned during the O365 CAB meeting that it would be useful to have a comparison of Power Pages with any other tools for web site creation that already exist in the EP. Is this what you would expect as a result of the SSP? Or anything else? Thanks for clarifying this before we take the request up. Best, Petra

Dear Adriana, Dear Petra, It is my understanding that Publipro would like to have a PoC and then pilot of Microsoft Power Pages. We discussed that at the last O365 CAB meeting, and the decision by the chair (Margarida) was that a request for Power Pages should be introduced into the software selection process. This is because there are existing web page tools and it should be evaluated how Power Pages fits in there, for governance reasons. Kind regards,

Dear Pedro, The use of Power Pages needs to be decided as part of the SSP governance process. For this you should contact the service of Neven Borojevic. As input to that process, you can also give them the case study. But that is now independent of our UC4EP tests. I personally have no further action on this on my side before the SSP concludes. You don't need to contact me until then. Kind regards, Ulrich

Hello, If an SSP request is needed, please redirect to my colleagues Petre or Thierry. Best regards

Dear Pedro, So, it took me some time to check the procedure about this request as it is not a "normal" SSP. Whatever touches O365 has to be approved by the relevant IT governance group and if ever an SSP is need they will ask for it. After internal discussions, no one else have made a request for Power Pages up to now, so it falls to you to make a business case for that. If approved by the governance committee they will provide the further steps to be followed for that (DP, security etc.) in which you will be potentially involved. FYI there is a meeting of that group next week. Let me know if I can be of any help. Regards,
